AlmaBike

The UniBo bicycle

The Almabike project encourages the use of bicycles for commuting within the university campuses and provides students with 600 custom-designed bicycles. In 2022, approximately 300 Almabikes were distributed to students, and the project to distribute around 200 Almabikes to ER.GO student residences was initiated to ensure environmentally friendly mobility for resident students.

The DICAM-ATES research project, carried out in collaboration with Technion in Haifa, involved the deployment of 50 Almabikes equipped with environmental sensors to monitor the impact of awareness on air quality during bike commutes from home to work. The project included sample selection through a call, distribution of bicycles and sensors, and data collection from May to July 2022. The collected data were analyzed and visualized on an online web application capable of associating pollution levels with specific road segments.

Furthermore, to encourage the use of micromobility for the service needs of university staff, 100 electric scooters were made available upon request.
